Ridge to Blazing Ridge Custom Race Shirts
We are now past the date to be assured of receiving one of these awesome shirts at the race. Everyone that registers by August 4th will get a race shirt. Those that register after July 18th may not get the shirt at the race. These are totally custom made, fully sublimated technical race shirts. They must be ordered two months prior to the race so it is necessary to estimate the number for shirts needed in each size. We will be close. The shirt will be worth the wait!
About the Ridge to Blazing Ridge Race
tHE RACE STARTS AT THE REDBUD PAVILION BY THE BMX TRACK ON TRANQUILITY ROAD. Both Races will START AT 7:00 am. ALL RUNNERS ARE REQUIRED TO CARRY WATER.
THIS ONE IS TOUGH and always very hot!
ALL RUNNERS MUST CARRY WATER AT ALL TIMES DURING THE RACE. The course is difficult with several long, steep climbs. The fastest 10 runners in 2021 needed almost 2 hours to finish the ten mile race. The times for everyone else ranged from 2 hours to 5 hours. Use that as a gauge as to how much water you will need.
Race Distances:
The course is on a 10.36 mile loop. The race starts with a 0.4 mile lap around the BMX track making the first fill lap, 10.76 miles. For 21 milers, the second lap will be 10.36, making the full two laps 21.12 miles. The Peavine Falls Aid Station is located at the top of the falls at mile4.83. The Red Road Water Stop (Water only) will be at mile 7.84.
EVERY YEAR RUNNERS RUN OUT OF WATER AT RIGET TO BLAZING RIDGE. This race is much harder than the previous two races and it will probably be very hot. Runners MUST carry water at all times during the race. NO EXCEPTIONS!! For best results, I suggest drinking Tailwind in the place of water. We supply Tailwind at both aid station along with plenty of water. REFILL your water bottles at the aid station. I also suggest carrying a water filter bottle. I have a Katadyn BeFree bottle I use all the time in my long training runs. The R2BR course is close to creeks on much of the course. It might just save your race.
Don't forget, the park charges $5 per person to enter Oak Mtn State Park. Credit cards are NOT accepted.
